Our certified staff can provide onsite machinery vibration analysis ranging from performing a "spot check" on a particular machine to setting up an entire Vibration Analysis Program for your machinery. Depending on your needs, a survey of your plant site can be performed and recommendations made on what would best suit your situation

Vibration Analysis is a proven method of monitoring changes and assessing the reliability of rotating equipment. The ability to maintain reliable equipment and production schedules requires machinery that is defect free. Accurate diagnosis of machinery problems with vibration analysis can save thousands of dollars in lost production, wasted man-hours, and scrap materials.

Vibration Analysis can be used for:

• Predicting potential failures
• Identifying and correcting ongoing problems in equipment
• New equipment acceptance testing
• Quality Control
• Avoiding costly routine maintenance
• Avoiding trial and error methods of corrective maintenance
• Scheduling equipment downtime for repairs & preventive maintenance

Vibration Analysis can be an integral tool in any successful Predictive Maintenance Program.

HOW VIBRATION ANALYSIS WORKS

• An ultra sensitive probe, or accelerometer, is attached to the machinery at predetermined locations.
• The vibration values sensed by accelerometer are recorded in the data collector.
• The data is then downloaded into a computer and analyzed to determine what, if any, repairs are needed.
• A report is generated to explain the symptoms and interpret the problem.
• We will then recommend the best course of action to keep your machinery in prime condition.
• Your machinery’s vibration data is then stored for future comparison to determine if any changes are noted in the values of the machinery.
• Data may be collected on a weekly basis, or, more commonly, on a monthly basis.

LASER ALIGNMENT & REVERSE INDICATION

Preventing costly downtime and equipment maintenance repairs is another one of Malloy Electric’s specialty areas. Precision alignment of your equipment can be done on site by a qualified technician. Precision alignment has been proven to effectively prolong the life of bearings in the motor and the driven equipment as well as the shaft couplers. It prevents costly repairs to motors and the driven equipment.

A Malloy technician will come to your place of business to correctly and precisely align your motors and the equipment they drive. A reverse double indicator system is attached to each shaft of the equipment to be aligned, and then both parts are rotated. A hand computer accepts values entered by the technician creating a report that allows the necessary corrections to be made.

Alignment is used to align motors to:
• Pumps
• Compressors
• Gear Reducers
• Various types of driven equipment

Thermography uses a specially designed infrared camera that shows surface heat variations. A telling sign of potential equipment problems is the presence or absence of heat. Malloy Electric has specially trained staff that can offer an on site thermographic analysis. This analysis is used as an early detection of potential problems of electrical equipment and motors to prevent unplanned downtime.

Scanning can be used to identify maintenance issues or minor adjustments on equipment such as:

• Electrical Switchgear
• Breakers
• Fuse Holders
• Bus Connections
• Transformer Connections
• Mechanical Couplings
• Heat Exchangers
• Compressor Heads
• Bearings
• Drive Gears
• Drive Belts
• Refractory Systems
• Steam Traps
• Piping Insulation

Malloy Electric’s Technical Service Department can help you ensure that your circuit breakers are ready to protect your equipment as they were designed.  We use state of the art digitally controlled testing equipment to check your circuit breakers on-site.   Since we carry the most common sizes with us, we can replace a bad breaker immediately.

We can test insulated or molded case breakers up to 7500 amps with our large tester.  Our smaller unit is rated for breakers up to 1200 amps.

Does your medium voltage equipment use vacuum contactors?   They can be found not only in vacuum breakers but in medium voltage transformers, starters and switch gear.

Malloy Electric’s Technical Services Department can help protect your investment by testing your vacuum contactors for proper operation and vacuum integrity.
