IT Security Analyst
Malloy Electric is a dynamic organization committed to safeguarding our digital assets and ensuring a secure environment for our clients and employees. We are seeking a motivated Entry-Level IT Security Analyst to join our cybersecurity team.
The Entry-Level IT Security Analyst will assist in protecting the organization’s information systems by monitoring, analyzing, and responding to security incidents. This role involves supporting the implementation of security measures, conducting vulnerability assessments, and collaborating with IT teams to ensure compliance with security policies. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and passionate about cybersecurity.
Duties and Responsibilities
Monitor Security Systems: Review security alerts and logs from firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and other tools to identify potential threats.
Incident Response: Assist in investigating and responding to security incidents under the guidance of senior analysts, including documenting findings and recommending remediation steps.
Vulnerability Assessments: Support the execution of vulnerability scans and assist in analyzing results to identify weaknesses in systems or applications.
Policy Compliance: Help ensure adherence to organizational security policies and industry standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
Security Awareness: Contribute to employee training programs by preparing materials or conducting basic phishing simulation exercises.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of security incidents, configurations, and procedures.
Collaboration: Work with IT and development teams to implement security patches, updates, and configurations.
Research: Stay updated on emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and security trends to support proactive defense strategies.
Perform other work as assigned.
Skills / Qualifications
Education: Studying a degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience: 0-2 years of experience in IT or cybersecurity (internships or academic projects acceptable).
Technical Skills:
Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs).
Familiarity with security tools (e.g., SIEM, antivirus software, firewalls).
Knowledge of cloud based Microsoft products.
Knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux).
Exposure to scripting (e.g., Python, PowerShell) is a plus.
Certifications (preferred but not required):
CompTIA Security+
Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH)
Cisco Certified CyberOps Associate
Soft Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work in a team and independently.
Valid Driver’s License.
Ability to lift objects up to 50 lbs.
