Journeyman Electrician

Inspects, repairs, installs, and maintains electrical systems, machinery, and equipment. Ensures all work performed meets required safety codes and is properly inspected. Uses a variety of tools or equipment, such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment. Has at least two years of journeyman level electrical experience. Typically requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to supervisor or manager. Typically requires an Electrician’s license from the state. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Typically requires 3-5 years of related experience or may have 2 years’ experience plus an associate degree, or additional training or certification.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work to troubleshoot and repair industrial electronic equipment

  • Use equipment necessary to perform tests on a combination of motors, controls, power transformers, with/without detailed instructions/data, to meet requirements as well as record data collected.

  • Comply with local and national electric codes, OSHA, and customer safety requirements, and maintain equipment in accordance with site procedures.

  • Perform testing in consultation with master electrician.

  • Work with other personnel; determine tooling, equipment, and materials required.

  • Work with motor control centers and control panels.

  • Install conduit and wiring.

  • Replace or repair starters, breakers, transformers and related equipment.

  • Understand electrical test procedures and equipment.

  • Test electrical systems and equipment with ohm meters, meggers and related test equipment.

Skills / Qualifications

  • Technical School and or Experience Preferred

  • Ability to travel to customer locations when needed, including overnights.

  • Problem Solver.

  • Have strong verbal and written communication skills.
